About this event

Each year, the MOD host a private event for MOD employees and their families.

GCN's involvement

We usually provide our WW1 Trench with an array of WW1 items and volunteers dressed in WW1 uniforms and a number of tents, including:

• media tent showing WW1 videos
• a WW1 Military First Aid Tent with volunteer WW1 nurses teaching children how to apply bandages, making paper mache helmets and talking about what first aid equipment was available at that time
• a and tents housing all sorts of model aircraft and ammunitions
• a tent with dioramas showing the battlefields and trenches

However, each year may be slightly different depending on whether it is a significant anniversary, e.g., 2024 was the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Normandy Landings» and 2025 will be the 80th Year of both VE Day (Victory in Europe 8th May 2025)» and VJ Day (Victory over Japan, 15th September 1925)»

For 2024 GCN provided items and displays related to the Normandy Landings, including a model replica of one of the landing craft.
