Gloucester Community Networking

Better Together
Through our networking, we have met a number of amazing organisations and some of them have been able to donate funds or provide services to help GCN operate. We are truly grateful to them, as we could not continue without the support of others in our community.
Special thanks goes to:
The Big Yellow Storage Company, on Eastern Avenue Gloucester, has very generously provided GCN with two storage rooms (1 x 15 sq foot & 1 x 25 sq foot) for 24 months for FREE.
GCN has a collection of WW1 and WW2 uniforms and the Books from the ‘Geoff North -‘War’ & ‘Conflict’ Research Library and these items need to be kept in an environment that needs to be both secure and easily accessible.
The friendly staff at the Gloucester Store have been extremely generous and have been very helpful in ensuring we can access these storage containers whenever we need to, by using their Security Codes and Padlocks.
It is always a challenge securing donations whether it be funding or resources, especially during times of ’economic hardship’ where everyone is trying to earn their living.
However, the staff at ’Big Dug’ and their Transport contractors, Andy Lee Transport Limited have gone over and above what GCN could have wished for and have very generously donated a large number of shelving units, storage boxes as well as an adjustable height table for Chris Auker-Howlett (a British Army Disabled Veteran).
Although GCN has had 3 lockup garages donated, they needed a storage solution to protect their 'not for profit community' War Out-Reach in Schools (WORS) project, which includes WWI & WWII books, a 25ft mobile WWI Trench and all sorts of training equipment for our First Aid 4 All (FA4A) project.
Our First Aid 4 Mental Health project received a grant to assist with the initial setup, train the trainer and administration costs to set up this much needed community training due to the added impact that Covid-19 has had on people’s mental health.
With this grant we will be supporting the following groups:
Thank you to the Team and Owners of Severn Signs Printing for donating 2 x 1m wide and 2m high ‘see through pull up screens’ with the GCN Logo on them.
These screens were used at the Churchdown TESCO’s Store during our support of the ‘Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal’.
These screens greatly assisted with keeping Poppy Volunteers, Customers and TESCO Staff ‘safe’ during the Covid-19 Pandemic during the Oct-Nov 2020 ‘Poppy Appeal’ whilst allowing the personal touch being able to freely communicate with donators.
Mr John Hughes at Cass-Stephens Insurances was extremely helpful in arranging for their donation of our 12-month Public Liability Insurance, especially understanding when we were explaining how and where we use our WORS project’s 25 x foot WW1 Mobile Trench and WW1 Children’s Teddy Field Hospital!
Glenn, Paul and Luke have been very generous with the loan of their Garden Centre’s van during the transporting our WW1 Mobile Trench, WW1 Graffiti Wall, Tentage and equipment for larger public events, such as the Gloucester retro festival and WW1 Centenary Concert at the Guild Hall.
Without Transport we could not provide our Living History war & conflict events or fundraise for our chosen Charity Combat Stress (Veterans mental health Charity).
