The History of Armed Forces Day in the UK

Armed Forces Day is an annual event that takes place on the last Saturday of June. The event was first observed in 2006 and originally named 'Veterans' Day'.

It was changed to 'Armed Forces Day' in 2009 to commemorate all our Service Personnel, who have both served and are still serving in Her Majesty's Armed Forces.

Due to the continuing Covid-19 restrictions, GCN decided to set up a small stand outside the exit of our local Tesco Store. We had shielding, donated to GCN by Severn Signs , face coverings and ensured our donation box and merchandise was regularly wiped down.

The weather, thankfully, held off and it was great to chat to so many people and to help us to raise this tremendous amount for such a great charity!
