GCN NETWORKING: War Out-Reach in Schools Project
Gloucester Community Networking, carried out five x WW1 Workshops as part of the 'War Out-Reach in Schools' Project (W.O.R.S) at The Milestone School » (Children with disabilities).
The staff and pupils were so much fun and it was great to support the efforts the staff who have already put in a great deal of work on the teaching the history of both World War 1 and World War 2 events.
Roy Ward (GCN -volunteer) was dressed in WW1 British Army uniform, which helped Chris Auker-Howlett (GCN Lead Networker) » facilitate 5 classes of pupils learn about the uniforms and equipment used in the Great War (WW1).
Feedback from the class teachers and pupils was very positive and we have been invited back on 24th Sept to carry out other WW1 workshops. However, on 24th Sept, these pupils will have more sensory and communication skills needs. As such, we will offer an even more taior-made experience of the W.O.R.S. project, focusing more on touch and smell activities.
Note: better pictures will be published once Milestone School has received parents' permission
